STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-September 25, 2023-The current pedestrian/bike passageway on Oak Street between 10th and 11th Streets over Soda Creek that has been a way through the Soda Creek Scour Countermeasures & Bridge Rehabilitation Project the last several weeks will be closed starting Thursday, September 28, and remain closed for approximately 30 days.
Upcoming concrete work on the bridge foundations combined with a sanitary sewer utility crossing necessitate a full closure of the work zone including the pedestrian/bike passageway.
Upon initial entry into the creek and work around the foundations by contractor Myers & Sons, significant erosion to the foundations of the 53- & 73-year-old bridges were identified and is a primary focus of the countermeasure efforts at this phase of the project.
With the storm sewer work completed this past weekend and 11th Street reopened, pedestrians and bikers can utilize 10th Street in front of Centennial Hall to Lincoln Avenue, then along Lincoln to 11th Street to bypass the work zone closure. All businesses adjacent to the project remain open and accessible.
Myers & Sons has been tapped to conduct the work on the $1.39M project with $1,117,000 covered by grant funding from CDOT/Colorado Municipal League Off-System Bridge Program. Myers & Sons has until November 1, 2023, to complete the project.
