Steamboat Springs, Colorado-May 7, 2026- A new season means a fresh pot of the popular Coffee with Cops engagement program is brewing once again—this time at Dusky Grouse Coffee, where the Steamboat Springs Police Department (SSPD) invites the community to sip, chat, and connect on Wednesday, May 13.
“Coffee with Cops provides an open and welcoming environment to better understand the department, our officers, and to share whatever is on your mind,” said Police Chief Mark Beckett. “I hope you will join us at Dusky Grouse to wake up, recharge, and celebrate spring.”
Community members are encouraged to stop in, enjoy a tasty cup of Dusky Grouse coffee, and spend time with officers in a relaxed, friendly environment. Guests can speak with Chief Beckett, Commander Griffin and Brown, and members of the SSPD, who protect and serve our city every day.
Coffee with Cops is inspired by the department’s daily briefings, offering an opportunity for quick, face‑to‑face conversations, shared information, and meaningful check‑ins. In addition to SSPD, members of the Routt County Sheriff’s Office will be on hand for this fully caffeinated edition of the program.
The event runs from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Dusky Grouse (1585 Mid Valley Drive, #4). No agendas—just good conversation, good company, and good coffee. The community is invited to drop by anytime during the two-hour session; no RSVP required.
Dusky Grouse Coffee Roasters is a beloved Steamboat Springs gathering spot known for its warm atmosphere, friendly staff, and thoughtfully crafted, small‑batch coffees. Rooted in community, the café offers a welcoming space for locals and visitors alike to relax, connect, and enjoy high‑quality brews sourced with care.
The program is designed to spark open, two‑way dialogue between the community and law enforcement. Most interactions between officers and the public happen during emergencies or stressful moments - not exactly the ideal circumstances for a warm chat. Coffee with Cops helps change that by creating a calm, welcoming place to build trust, ask questions, and “espresso” what’s on your mind.
